Poster Planning

For the film poster aspect of produection our group has decided to each create a different version of the poster. From this we will be able to pick the best one and incorporate it into our final production.

For my version of the film poster I have created a mock up template (below) this shows where the tag line and title will be placed. I chose to put the tag line at the top of the page due to a common code and convention of film posters being the tag line placed at the top. The title also is commonly put towards the bottom of the page. I feel that having quite a bare poster and the image taking up the majority of the page adds a minimalistic aspect to the poster enabling the audience to focus more on the main image.

The overall concept of the image I am hoping to use is a camcorder (which is a dominant feature in our film) resting on a shovel (which the killer uses to kill his victim). This image will be dark and will take a lot of focus for the audience to grasp the concept however, I feel, will also be intriguing and unsettling. I aim to make the poster unnerving by adding the effect of an eye into the camera lens which provokes the idea that someone is watching the audience (like the murderer is watching his victim).

The title is ‘Documented’ abiding with the idea that our killer documents his life by film and by keeping trophies. The graphic title evokes the idea of a typewriter which keeps the idea of documents consistent. There is also a connotation of blood falling from the text which adds a gory feel to the title keeping with the horror/thriller genre. The ‘tag line’ will be in a gothic text with blurred edges in order to add a distorted and disorientating feel to the poster.  I also aim to make the text of the tagline white with red edges to keep with the colours of the title.
